Elena Ocampo Ong was born in Tondo, Manila on December 3, 1925. Ellen to family and friends, she was the eldest child of Ponciano Ong Lacson and Eugenia Calma Ocampo, both from Pampanga. Her paternal ancestors were from Amoy in Fujian (Fookien) province in China.  She was a medical graduate of UST and did her residency training in the eastern United States.  She met and married her husband in New York. They were blessed with 4 children: Catherine, Peter (nee Mary Sue Ycasiano), Rodolfo Jr. and Evelyn (nee Amado Katigbak). She was a proud grandparent of Eric, Allison, Elizabeth, Angelo and Alexander. Renowed for her culinary skills, we all miss her special Christmas holiday meal of lengua estofada, embotido and morcon. She left this world on January 19, 2021 after a long illness.
